JBL is a brand that has experience in the field of high-quality sound. This experience has been reflected in a whole range of headphones and speakers for all types of users in various generations of equipment. With all this previous experience, they are now launching the Tune 115 TWS on the market, which fully inherits the strong points of sound quality and attractive design.Tune 115 TWS: Hours of powerful bass music in discreet wireless earbuds [Review] Tune 115 TWS: Hours of powerful bass music in discreet wireless earbuds [Review]

These JBL Tune series wireless in-ear headphones arrive at a reasonable price for those looking for the first wireless headphones in their life, highlighting from the packaging one of its most appreciated features, the Pure Bass (pure bass).

The Tune 115 TWS has a rounded design wrapped in a polycarbonate shell. The size of its charging case is small enough that this device can be taken anywhere. The weight is around 5 grams for each earphone and the charging case weighs 52 grams.

The surface is matte, which makes it not easy to get dirty, on the front of the charging case. The simple design makes it comfortable to wear for a long time, as well as two sets of silicone ear adapters of different sizes to fit the ear hole gently and finally its USB-C cable to charge the battery.

There are three white LED indicator lights on the charging case to help detect the rate of remaining battery charge. And each earbud has an indicator light which is useful for battery status and also for pairing. The storage area uses a magnetic system so it will be easy to stick and connect to the pin.

How firmly the earphones stay in your ear is important and this model works perfectly as you can run, jump, move and even shake your head without fear of losing one of them. In addition, its compact size makes it almost imperceptible to the eye.

The USB-Type C adapted charging port improves the connection of the charging cable. The box is easy to open and close with one hand, with a magnet that holds the headphones very firmly so that they do not dance or come off when handling the cargo box.

SOUND QUALITY

JBL uses a 5.8 mm / 0.23” dynamic driver, a frequency response of 20 Hz - 20 kHz, an impedance of 14 ohms. Headphones or even speakers from JBL have always been strong in the bass range and with the Tune 115 TWS, this continues to be promoted.

Expensive bass, evenly distributed from the sub-bass to low-mid range. In songs with a lot of high intensity bass he was strong. The bass range is well controlled, hard hit, without distortion, including at maximum volume, which is well suited for exciting remix, dance or EDM tracks.

In favor of the bass, the Tune 115 still delivers a smooth and fat midrange, although not very detailed, the high-mid and low-mid sections are perfect and don't feel drowned out like many other cheap headphones, reproducing full voice from the singer.

But it's not all good, sadly the Tune115 doesn't come with an active ANC noise-canceling feature, but thanks to the in-ear design and tight, deep design, this one is still pretty good at canceling noise in environments of office.

One of the problems with this type of headphones is wind resistance. In this set, the resistance is quite low as you can clearly hear the wind hitting your ear when traveling at speed outdoors, so it will force the user to turn up the volume.

The same is true for calls. Sound quality is at shoulder level and each headset comes equipped with a microphone that works best in a less noisy office environment. If used on the road, we will have to speak a little loud to drown out background noise because this headset does not have a noise-canceling microphone.

The nice thing is that the Tune 115 is equipped with Dual Connect technology, giving you the flexibility to use each earbud in mono mode when you only need to make a voice call. In this mode, the Tune 115 will have almost twice the battery life.

CONNECTIVITY

Tune 115 TWS has been equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, providing good connectivity, fast and rare loss of connection of an earphone when listening continuously. As soon as the headset is removed from the box, it will automatically connect to the nearest device.

Watching movies, listening to music, or playing games is completely smooth with less lag. The maximum connection distance can be up to 10 meters when there are no obstacles. Please note that this headset does not support connecting 2 devices at the same time, so when you want to switch devices, you must disconnect one device and re-pair it with the other device.

The Tune 115 TWS is not compatible with apps like My JBL. To see the battery capacity of the headphones, we will have to do it manually by familiarizing ourselves with the LED on the box or headset and going to the system's Bluetooth settings. To adjust the equalizer you will need to use the music player.

BATTERY

These headphones come with a built-in 55 mAh battery for each ear and 410 mAh for the carrying case. As advertised by JBL on the packaging, the Tune 115 offers a total of 21 hours of music playback, including 6 hours from the headphones and 15 hours out of the box.

In fact, when I used it at 50% volume, I was able to listen to music continuously for about 5 and a half hours. The charging box can fully charge the earphone about 2 times. This is a good level of battery life, enough to get you a few days of use before needing a recharge. Full charging time via Type-C port with 15W charger takes about 2 hours, and supports 15-minute quick charge for about 1 hour of music listening.

CONCLUSION

As I mentioned, the Tune 115 is perfect for anyone starting out in the world of True wireless (TW) headphones, with quality sound and really powerful bass achieve an experience that surprises for such small and discreet devices. Added to this is an amazing battery life, which gives it quite a long life time before needing a recharge.

However, many functions that JBL offers in other headphones with a higher price range are missed, such as noise cancellation, greater resistance to humidity or the possibility of having equalization modes from the JBL app.
