Omicrono Netatmo's smart doorbell arrives in Spain against Ring and Nest

Nest and Ring have a new competitor in Spain in the smart doorbell market: Netatmo. The French smart home device company is now launching its first smart video doorbell on the Spanish market, which will thus compete against Amazon's Doorbell and Google's Hello.
The Netatmo smart doorbell with camera hits the market on Monday 28 for €299.99 and is based on the same principle as the other smart doorbells on the market. Having a virtual peephole at the door of the house that allows the user to tell the delivery man where to leave the package, to dispatch visitors without having to open the door, or simply to keep an eye on the entrance to the house.
In fact, the Netatmo smart doorbell differentiates between person and nondescript movement, so if someone is loitering around the house you will receive a notification on your mobile that a person has been detected and it will be recorded instantly. These notices are customizable, both when it comes to detecting and recording movements, and alert zones can be established to avoid other spaces.
Installation
One of the key points of this type of device is installation. The doorbell that comes with the house is not usually an element that nobody changes unless they want to make the leap to a device of this type. Although it is becoming more and more, it is still an unknown quantity for many users.

While Ring allows you to replace or complement your existing doorbell, Netatmo advocates the Nest formula: occupy the current doorbell with which you connect to the internet. "Keep the existing wired chime and simply replace the doorbell button with the video doorbell. It is compatible with most electrical installations, 8-24 or 230 volts," the company explains.
That is, the new Netatmo doorbell cannot be installed either in apartments that have an electronic doorbell or in single-family homes that have an intercom or no doorbell. It will be necessary to manipulate the wires of the electric bell to change one for another.
Once connected, the user connects to it through Netatmo Security from which the videos of the calls and events are displayed or you can browse the sequences as well as download those that interest you. Of course, unlike the competition, all the features are free -even the storage of videos-, something that in Nest and Ring it will be necessary to pay an additional fee.

In addition, the history of received calls and videos are stored locally on a microSD card that is inside the device itself. In this way, "we ensure a higher level of protection for its content," the company details.
FullHD resolution
One of the great strengths of this doorbell is its video quality. It has a 1080p FullHD camera with a 140-degree wide-angle lens, which offers a good viewing experience. Likewise, it has an HDR function to combat sudden changes in lighting so that you can always see the face of the person around the door, despite the fact that there is a deep backlight. It is also designed to be seen at night without the need for additional lighting due to its infrared camera.
Otherwise, the Netatmo doorbell stands out for its sober and elegant design that easily integrates into the door of the home. Thinking of enduring time, it is protected by HZO technology and IP44 certified, "the Doorbell is completely waterproof and perfectly resists any weather condition (rain, snow, humidity) and also dust and impurities", the French company says.

Integrates with HomeKit
If Nest focuses on Google's smart assistant and Ring does the same with Amazon's, Netatmo stands out from them by being compatible with Apple's HomeKite. This allows the user to create custom scenarios to connect the doorbell with other IoT products around the house, such as lights, for example.
Likewise, with the integration into the Apple ecosystem, it is fully compatible with Siri, with which it will be possible to ask the assistant of the Cupertino company to, for example, show us the door of the house with just a voice command .
