According to experts, 2021 is the year of the drone and 'Comando Actualidad' will investigate its many and varied uses. It has gone from being a toy to a gadget for just about everything: chasing down criminals, transporting packages, dispensing seeds, loading ships, taking part in races, and from 2030 could be used as an air taxi. The new European drone regulations make flying it easier. In addition, it has become a mine to train and find work.

They are the robots of the air, our eyes in the sky. This is confirmed by the state security bodies and forces that use drones against evil. The Rapid Action Group of the Civil Guard has incorporated it into its use against drug trafficking. A drone can fly over up to eight kilometers of the coast and locate the entrance by sea of boats loaded with drugs. The DGT has put into operation this 2021 20 drones that pursue infractions on the roads and impose fines.

In Spain there are some 5,200 registered drone operators, according to the State Aviation Safety Agency. One of its most common applications is the revision of windmill blades. The so-called aracnocóptero makes seven-minute flights through the wind farms of the large electricity companies to detect possible cracks, wear or malfunctions. It weighs less than five kilos. The engineers dedicated to these tasks already have the title of drone pilot. It is an almost essential qualification when looking for a job.

Obtaining the title is not difficult, considering that drone pilot schools have multiplied exponentially in the last year. We accompanied Victoria, a police officer by profession and a traveler by vocation, to take the exam as a drone pilot along with 60 other students. Only 5,000 applicants have passed through his school in the last year. Victoria wants to obtain the license to be able to take a drone on her travels around the world. The exam costs more than 400 euros.

The air taxi or taxi of the future is already here. There is a company in Spain that is already working on it and we went to see what it will be like to travel in the future: without a pilot, in a straight line through the air and with landing strips on the tallest skyscrapers. The highways of the sky will be called corridors and we will have to go very still so that the device does not move more than necessary. It is possible that in our aerial urban journeys we come across other drones that transport merchandise; with the new European Law, it is already allowed.

Those who are dedicated to supplying the ships that sail through the Strait know it well. Until now, the ship docked and the consignees took their orders by boat. We check how there are companies that already load boats with drones starting at 200 euros.
