The latest generation of the successful Redmi Note of Xiaomi consists, for the moment, of four models: the Redmi Note 10 Pro, the Redmi Note 10 in 4G and 5G versions, and the Redmi Note 10s.The latter, which arrives to happen to Redmi Note 9s, is located on the intermediate step of the family, both for price and benefits.

An improvable screen in a design that does not clash

Although it is also available in ocean blue and white stone, the unit that has gone through our hands is the gray ónix.This tone with mirror finish endows the terminal of an elegant appearance, but it becomes very easily dirty: both the fingerprints and the dust motorcycles have a constant presence in the rear.

The slight curvature of that back, the rounded songs and a thickness of just over 8 mm make it comfortable in the hand.The plastic is the material chosen by Xiaomi for this phone, which is two advantages: the weight is below 180 g and the mobile does not heat up in excess when we use it intensively.In addition, it has IP53 resistance certification against dust and splashes.

The camera module does not stand out much, although a certain "limp" is appreciated when we deposit the phone on a flat surface.The rest of the back is completely smooth, because the fingerprint reader has it on the right edge of the metallic frame, integrated into the ignition button and next to the volume controls.

The card tray (two sim + a microSD) appears on the left side, while on the lower edge we find the USB-C port, the headphone jack takes and one of the two speakers (the other is at the top,next to the infrared emitter).It is appreciated that Xiaomi has endowed this stereo speakers model because, despite the fact that the sound is a bit flat, it does enriches the experience when we play, we see videos or listen to music.

On the front, we have a 6.43 -inch AMOLED screen with FullHD+ resolution (2.400 x 1.080), a high contrast of 4.500.000: 1 and a brightness of 700 nits.There are already models in this price range that offer a 90 Hz soda rate, so the 60 Hz of the Redmi Note 10s seem somewhat scarce.We are not going to say that the visualization experience is bad, but it could be improved with a higher rate, less reflections and a more efficient automatic glow.

However, it shows that we talk about an AMOLED panel and the customization options offered by Xiaomi in this section are appreciated;Among other things, it allows us to adjust the color temperature to our liking or "ask you" to illuminate your edges when we receive a notification.By the way, the lower frame is quite thick compared to the superior and that makes the use of the front.

The battery as spearhead

Once we have seen what the Redmi Note is on the outside, we will verify what is hidden inside.At the controls, we have the Helio G95 processor of Mediatek, an eight -core chipset with 12 Nm architecture and 4G connectivity that is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM LPDDR4X.

The number of cameras and megapixels does not matter

During the day, we can say that the main chamber approves in terms of image quality, although the chromatic range is a bit poor and the lack of sharpness and detail is evident if we expand the image.However, artificial intelligence is quite efficient recognizing scenes and HDR does a good job, especially when saving the blue from heaven.It is advisable to keep it activated.

This model does not have optical zoom, and the digital zoom penalizes, as usual, the level of detail, so it is not advisable to resort to it.To obtain an extension, it is better to shoot in 64 MP mode and make a cut.The wide angle, meanwhile, does not deform the image excessively, but it does accentuate the watercolor effect and turn off the colors a little.And the macro mode?It is expendable, it sins a lot of lack of sharpness.

The portrait mode allows us to adjust the blur of the background to our liking, but we must say that it generates a somewhat artificial foreground cut.Once again, there is a problem of sharpness and an improvable chromatic range, although, yes, skin tones are correct.

When it is done at night, the lack of sharpness and detail jumps to the naked eye, just like the watercolor effect.The white balance is also wrong and returns a generalized yellowish tone with quite flat colors.Night mode is essential if we want to save some detail in dark areas, but noise makes an appearance.

We turn the phone to make us a selfie and what are we found?Self -portraits with the same problems we have seen in the rear chamber: little sharpness, lack of detail, colors off and an overexposed background in most scenes.In the portrait mode, the front camera resorts to the software to blur the background and suffers to distinguish elements such as glasses or hair.

Night mode is not available in the front camera, so we have to settle for photo mode (automatic) to obtain night selfies.And the result are self -portraits full of noise, without detail and with even more turned off colors.From the background nothing is rescued, so we can conclude that the front camera, at night, only returns testimonial images.

Video recording is not one of the strengths of this mobile.The Redmi Note admits a maximum quality of 4K to 30 fps or 1080p to 60 fps.It does not have an optical stabilizer, but allows some game thanks to the option to record slowly, make short videos, capture a time-lapse and even apply filters or an beautification to our recordings.

Redmi Note 10s, the opinion of Xataka Android

Once again, Xiaomi proposes a model that is characterized by its good value for money, at least on paper.The Redmi Note can breastfeed in autonomy and performance, with special mention to the fast charge and the customization options that MIUI gives us.Its design and their screen do not disappear in the set, although a higher soda frequency had been desirable.

The weak point of this phone lies in its cameras, which obtain an approved justito of day but suspend at night.These last two factors added to the absence of 5G prevent the Redmi Note from being imposed as one of the most outstanding options in this price range.Is it a bad phone?No, much less.But in the market there are strong competitors for just over the 250 euros that the base model costs.And we must not go far, that within the Xiaomi catalog and, more specifically, of little, there are models that can shade it.
